Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière Spring/Summer 2006 top / micro dress. A sculptural Ghesquière-era Balenciaga piece designed around sharp geometry and contrasting black textures. The deep V-neckline flows into an angular panelled construction, combining soft black fabric with glossy waxed and finely ribbed sections. Strategically placed panels sculpt and frame the body while giving the monochrome design depth and dimension. Its elongated proportion allows it to be worn as a statement top or styled as an ultra-short micro dress. A particularly strong example of Ghesquière’s futuristic approach to the female silhouette during his Balenciaga era.
