Dolce & Gabbana Fall/Winter 2003 runway bandage set, look #25 of the collection. Consisting of a cropped black nylon jacket and matching velvet trousers, the set is constructed around a system of adjustable straps, belts and industrial hardware. The jacket combines lightweight nylon with glossy PVC applications at the shoulders, elbows and back, creating a contrast between soft technical fabric and a harder, almost armour-like surface. Regulated straps wrap across the body and sleeves, while heavy branded metallic zippers run through the front and cuffs, allowing the silhouette to be adjusted and transformed. The matching mid-rise trousers continue the same language in soft black velvet, with belt elements wrapping around the legs and shaping the silhouette throughout. Cut with a subtle flare, the fit can be adjusted through the strap system, creating a tension between the softness and sensuality of velvet and the restrictive, fetishistic quality of the hardware. With side pockets and an exceptionally body-conscious fit, the trousers feel both relaxed and deliberately provocative.
