Maison Martin Margiela Fall/Winter 2011 runway over-the-knee boots in a rich, looks #7, 8, 27, aged tan leather, defined by their extremely high shaft and sculptural stiletto heel. The leather has a deliberately worn, lived-in finish, while the thick double sole gives the otherwise elongated silhouette unexpected weight. White mould- and dirt-like detailing along the bottom is an intentional part of the design, adding to Margiela's fascination with ageing, transformation and the beauty of imperfection. Despite their dramatic proportions, the boots have a surprisingly comfortable heel and remain an unmistakable statement from the house's Fall/Winter 2011 runway collection.
